Do you act based on what you see, like Phinehas, or are you a LIAR? In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death author Neil Postman uses the acronym LIAR to describe what he refers to as the "Low Information-Action Ratio." We often have more than enough information but still fail to act on it.
Did you catch the indictment in the final paragraph of the devotional? Sadly, many do not view Christians as people of action. Can this be said about you? About me?
These texts and today's devotional do more than provoke thought -- they demand action. So what do you see that needs to be done that nobody else is doing anything about? Will you do something? Do you trust God to reward you even if your actions are unpopular?

WOW! Best Article yet! I feel my passion growing - being strengthened after each day I read this devotional. To answer your question, Kelly; as to whether I am a Phinehas or a L.I.A.R. the answer is....yes, unfortunately. There are times when I have taken action for the Lord when I know I wasn't the only one who saw or knew it should be done. There have also been times that I've watched and not acted - preferring instead to ignore the situation.
GO PHINEHAS! Thanks for your passion to DO the right thing!!!
Wow, I was really challenged today. I don't want to count the number of times throughout my life when I have sensed the Spirit’s prompting to “act” and yet have failed to follow through. Why? fear, doubt, embarrassment, insecurity – pick one depending on the situation! Satan is delighted when we choose not to act on God’s Word or His promptings in our hearts. I need to stop making excuses for not acting and instead choose to follow in obedience, fight for the truth and embrace those leaps of faith, relying fully on God’s wisdom, strength and enablement. I want a life known not only by passion and conviction, but also by action!

I have been thinking about the connection between passion for God, action, and faith. Some people seem to be "doers" and "go-getters" by nature, while others of us find it more difficult to do something that no one else is doing. It takes faith to take those risks and trust in God for whatever might be the outcome. This is an area in which I've been recently stretched.
I was struck by the phrase in Numbers 25:11, "...he was as zealous as I am for my honor." God is passionate about us having no other gods before Him. Phinehas thought like God did and was moved to action when God's covenant people began worshipping the Baal of Peor. How I need to destroy the gods set up in my life that take away honor from the one true God!
